I am happily excited to come for the first time to Castlemaine. Thank you Marie (Mirbach) for inviting me!
We hope to see many local dancers at the workshop as well as plenty of participants from other places for an enriching dance culture. The Guildford Hall is spacious with beautiful wooden floors and Guildford itself offers a lovely cafe, pub and nature walking opportunities for us to enjoy during the breaks and in the evenings.
DEEP LISTENING – EMERGING POSSIBILITIES
I wish us to feel a deeper sense of connection when we share a dance.
Getting in touch with what is … with what is actually there instead of planing ahead. Listening … Which direction? How quick or slow? More weight or less? Is my response meeting the offer? Can I hear the response to my input?
I will share principles and strategies that I find useful to hear each other more deeply and precisely. We might use some given pathways in order to practice our listening skills. New pathways will emerge when we listen more deeply – and will connect us beyond the physical. I also want to make sure that we don’t get lost in listening and forget to trust our own impulses that feed the aliveness of the dance.

Explorative solo work and a focus on the group will help us expand beyond the duet bubble and give tools for richer and more satisfying Jams.

Joerg’s approach is generally gentle and playful with long slow phases to tune into self and the group. He includes somatic work based on developmental movement patterns which prepares body and mind for the sensing and weight sharing which happens in CI. He loves offering deep and focussed explorations as well as practical exercises which serve as beautiful starting points for a heartfelt and connected jam space.
