What is the smallest shift that carries the spark of a surpise and that can lead us to the edges of what we know, befriending excitement and discomfort? What allows us to feel safe enough and alive in our body to dare trying new things, to follow crazy impulses and still stay attuned and precise?

These questions will underlie the Worlshop when we look into some basics of Contact technique around giving & taking weight and aspects of the communication through touch. And also when we play in more open frames to explore the dance … and dance and dance.

All experience levels are welcome. You just need to have an idea, what contact improvisation is. If you are completely new to the form, please get in touch with Anat and come to a Contact Jam beforehand, so you know what you are diving into.

Exploration of the physical body and movement has always been a part of my life. My journey started young as a Gymnast and led me later into contemporary dance, Contact Improvisation, Yoga, Capoeira, Pilates, Body-mind centering, authentic movement, Ilan Lev method, and more..
Since first discovering CI 15 Years ago it has become a vast source of my Inspiration, Passion, Joy, and personal growth…and still is. I have been dancing, teaching, learning, performing, and organizing in the CI world since then.
Exploration through movement and dance is for me a practice of presence, connection between body-heart and mind, and a source of learning more about the nature of reality and life.
I try to offer different states of learning. From a specific pathway, exercise, or pattern to a much more open exploration that can be guided into the learning material. I hope to bring the Nature of questioning as a source of curiosity and engagement.
I am new to Australia and I have a wish to spread my passion for CI in this area. not only as a dance form but as a community of people having a deep and rich connection in and out of the studio.

JOERG HASSMANN
Inspired by contact improvisation since more than 25 years as a way to understand and celebrate the moving body and human communcation. Many kinds of sports, release techniques, somatic work, instant composition and creating dance and theater performances have informed his dance and his teaching. As the artistic director Joerg is involved in the CI festival Contact-meets-Contemporary. Together with Daniel Werner he developed a systematic approach to Contact Technique that they tought for 12 years in Training Programmes in Berlin and throughout Europe. CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellation more than one week prior to commencement of workshop will incur a 10% non-refundable processing fee.
Cancellation less than one week prior to commencement of workshop, will incur a 50% non-refundable processing fee.
In the event that the workshop is cancelled or if you can’t join due to covid related issues you will be refunded 100% of your ticket payment.
